Motion blur and a livelier Right Shift#

Motion blur like Lunar on 1.8.9 and 1.7.10, smoother animations in the Right Shift menu and cloth capes with more movement.

  • NewclientMotion blur (Mods → Visual) on 1.8.9 and 1.7.10: a soft trail when you turn, strength 1 to 10. Your HUD and menus stay sharp.
  • ImprovedclientRight Shift: the buttons come in one after another, MODS gets a light sheen, the tab bar slides to the tab you pick and the content slides in from that side.
  • ImprovedclientCloth capes flutter more: stronger gusts down the fabric and a little ripple when you run.

One Play button and the Solar logo on every nametag#

Play and the version picker are one button, the Solar logo shows on nametags and the Tab list on every version, and messages you read in game are read in the launcher too.

  • ImprovedlauncherPlay and the version are one button: it shows the version's art and name, and the arrow on its right opens the version picker.
  • NewclientOn 1.20.4 and 1.21 the nametag and the Tab list show the real Solar logo in each player's rank color, like on 1.8.9, instead of a diamond.
  • ImprovedclientThe nametag logo is a little bigger by default, and you can make it bigger still (Rank icons → Icon size).
  • FixedlauncherMessages you read in game no longer show as unread in the launcher, and the other way around.
  • NewclientArmor Status shows the item in your hand under your armor, with its durability or how many you have. On 1.20.4 and 1.21 the armor icons show up too (before it was only numbers).
  • ImprovedclientTeamView is smoother and is just an arrow now (no text). Up close it fades away, from far it's always there; set the distance in its options.
  • ImprovedclientEmotes: keep walking or running while you pick one, the camera goes to third person and back, your head still follows where you look, the item in your hand is put away, and hitting someone cancels the emote.
  • ImprovedclientTo unbind a key, click it and press Esc.
  • ImprovedclientThe inventory stays centered when you have potion effects on 1.8.9 and 1.7.10 (Settings → General).
  • ImprovedclientProximity chat talks with everyone by default, reconnects faster and no longer cuts your first words with push to talk.
  • NewclientChat is one mod now, with every part inside it: timestamps, compact chat, longer history, mentions, filter, AutoGG, quick messages and the new Chat background (turn it off for a chat with only the text).
  • NewclientWrite your own label on text mods ("FPS", "CPS", "ms"...) and put it before or after the value. Coordinates lets you change what each axis says and the decimals.
  • NewclientCooldowns is a HUD mod now: move it and resize it in the HUD editor like any other.
  • FixedclientNametags no longer twist in freelook on 1.8.9 and 1.7.10, and on servers with multi-line nametags the player's name always goes at the bottom with the tags above it.
  • FixedclientChanging the height of a hat, mask or backpack now shows on the preview while you move the slider.

Menus open where you expect#

The MODS button always takes you to your mods and the cosmetics button to your cosmetics, instead of the last tab you had open.

  • ImprovedclientRight Shift → MODS always opens the mods list (all mods, no search left over), and the cosmetics button opens Cosmetics from the start.
  • ImprovedclientClient Settings in the main menu opens the Settings tab directly.

Solar's colors#

The client, the launcher and the website now wear the gold of the Solar logo instead of Ember's orange.

  • ImprovedclientMenus, buttons, sliders and highlights in game are Solar gold, with dark text on gold so everything stays easy to read.
  • ImprovedlauncherThe launcher uses the new gold too, and your Discord status shows the new Solar Client logo.
  • ImprovedwebThe website, the Solar+ page and the Discord messages switched to the new colors.

Ember is now Solar Client#

New name, new logo. Your account, cosmetics, friends, settings and coins stay exactly as they were, and the launcher updates itself like always.

  • NewclientSolar Client: the new name and the new logo in the main menu, the mods menu, the HUD editor, rank icons and the window title.
  • NewlauncherThe launcher is now Solar Client: new app icon, home screen, title bar, tray and Discord status. Nothing to reinstall: it updates by itself.
  • NewwebThe website and the Discord server wear the new brand too. Same links as before.
  • ImprovedclientEmber+ is now Solar+, with the same benefits, badge and cloth capes. Members keep their months and their badge color.
  • ImprovedwebSolar is built for every Minecraft version, and the version picker shows which ones run Solar today.
  • FixedclientWaypoints you created no longer disappear: switching profiles or leaving Competitive mode used to bring back an old list.
  • ImprovedclientEach singleplayer world keeps its own waypoints. The ones you already had are copied into each world the first time you open it, so nothing is lost.

Proximity chat#

Talk to the Solar players around you on any server: the closer they are, the louder you hear them. Friends only by default, or everyone if you both allow it.

  • NewclientProximity chat: on any server, Solar players near you hear you and you hear them, louder the closer they are. It fades out at your hearing range (8 to 64 blocks).
  • NewclientYou choose who: Friends (default) or Everyone. Both sides have to allow it, so a stranger never hears you if you picked Friends, and blocked players never hear each other.
  • NewclientPush to talk by default with your voice key (the mic only opens while you hold it), or voice activation. Mute and deafen work here too.
  • NewclientA green mic over the nametag of whoever is talking near you, and the Voice chat HUD shows who's talking and how far away they are.
  • NewclientIn a call, nearby players don't hear you unless you turn on "Talk nearby during calls". Works on non-premium servers too.
  • ImprovedwebYour voice only goes to the players next to you: the server never sends it to anyone else on the server.

A real messenger: seen, typing, emoji and images#

Private chats now show Sent, Delivered and Seen, when your friend is typing, an emoji picker and images you send from your PC, in game and in the launcher.

  • NewclientMessages show Sending, Sent, Delivered (it reached your friend's game or launcher) and Seen (they opened the chat). If one fails, click it to retry: it never sends twice.
  • Newclient"is typing" with three little dots while your friend writes. Only the activity is sent, never what they're typing.
  • NewclientEmoji picker in the chat (in game too): 170 emoji in 7 categories, search and your recent ones. Emoji show properly in Minecraft and stay in your history.
  • NewclientSend images: pick a PNG or JPG from your PC, see it before sending, add a message if you want. Your friend sees it right in the chat and can open it big, even if you're offline.
  • NewlauncherThe launcher chat has all of it too: states, typing, emoji, images (you can also paste one) and a full-size viewer.
  • NewclientRead receipts setting: turn it off and friends don't see when you read, and you don't see when they read yours.
  • ImprovedwebImages are stored on Solar's servers without location or other metadata, and only you and your friend can open them.
  • FixedclientScreenshots on 1.20.4 and 1.21 no longer come out black when another window covers the game.

Waypoint editor, fly boost and smoother chunks#

Name, recolor and move your waypoints, fly up to 20 times faster in creative, Lazy chunk loading for steadier FPS on 1.8.9, cloth capes that really fly back, and giveaways and free cosmetics on Discord.

  • NewclientWaypoint editor: give it a name, type your own coordinates or use your position, pick any color and hide or show it. The waypoint key opens it in game; click a waypoint in the list to edit or delete it.
  • NewclientFly boost in Toggle Sprint: creative flying up to x20 faster. Servers can turn it off.
  • NewclientLazy chunk loading on 1.8.9 (Settings > Performance): builds fewer chunks per frame so your FPS stays steady when you move fast or join a world.
  • ImprovedclientCloth capes fly back properly when you walk and run, and stay smooth instead of folding up.
  • NewwebDiscord: giveaways run by the bot (only linked accounts can enter, and winners get the prize in their account right away), free cosmetic drops, new cosmetics posted automatically, a new FAQ and channels for fit checks and community support.
