Yes. The launcher, the client and every mod are free. The only thing you can pay for is cosmetics, and none of them change how the game plays.

Yes — you need Minecraft: Java Edition on a Microsoft account. Solar signs you in with that account; it doesn't replace it.

Solar (the HUD mods, cosmetics and in-game friends) is built to cover every Minecraft version, and new ones keep arriving. The version picker in the launcher shows which ones run Solar today; the rest play with Fabric, so you can use your own mods there.

No. The launcher downloads the right Java (8) into its own folder and sets up everything else. It won't touch any Java you already have installed.

Not at the moment. Solar has its own performance work, zoom and video options built in, so you shouldn't need OptiFine. Mixing clients and mod loaders is the number one cause of crashes we see.

You sign in on Microsoft's own login page inside the launcher. We never see your password. What we receive is a Minecraft session token, the same thing every launcher uses, and it's stored encrypted on your PC.

Our servers only ever see your username, your UUID and a short-lived proof that you own the account.

You signed in with a Microsoft account that doesn't have the game. Click your head in the launcher → Add a Microsoft account, and use the one you bought Minecraft with.

Sign in once at xbox.com with that account to create the profile, then try again in the launcher. It takes about a minute.

Yes. Click your head at the bottom-left of the launcher to add accounts and switch between them. Each account has its own coins and locker.

In the launcher, open Settings → Game performance and make sure the profile is Max FPS. It applies the next time the game starts. In game, Right Shift → Performance shows every optimization; they should all be on.

On laptops, make sure Java is using the dedicated GPU (Windows Settings → Display → Graphics → add javaw.exe → High performance).

The launcher will show the end of the log when that happens. Hit Copy log and post it in our Discord support channel — that tells us almost everything we need.

2–4 GB is plenty for PvP. More isn't better: a huge heap makes Java's garbage collector pause for longer. You can change it in Settings → Memory.

Everyone playing on Solar, on any server. Players on vanilla or other clients see your normal skin.

Coins usually land within a few seconds. If it's been more than ten minutes, email [email protected] with the username and the receipt from Stripe or PayPal — we'll sort it out.

Yes. On the Store page, type their username instead of yours. You can also gift a specific cosmetic from the launcher.

Unspent coins can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. Coins already spent on cosmetics can't. The full details are in our refund policy.

Press Right Shift. Every mod has an Enabled / Disabled bar and its own options. Star the ones you use most and they stay at the top.

In the mod menu, press Edit HUD. Drag modules anywhere, scroll to resize, use the arrow keys to nudge and Ctrl + Z to undo.

Some servers use Solar Bridge and switch off mods that don't fit their game mode. Solar tells you which ones when you join, and everything comes back when you leave.

Start a party with your friends (press U in game), then press G. Everyone in your party on the same server sees a marker where you stand for 45 seconds.

Take it with F2, then press K right after. You get a link you can paste anywhere. In the launcher, open a screenshot and press Share link. Delete them any time from your account page.

In the launcher go to Settings → Discord → Generate code. Then type /link followed by the code in our Discord server. Once linked, /profile shows your cosmetics and stats.

Settings → Discord → Show activity on Discord. It switches off immediately.
